Sky Protocol (formerly MakerDAO) has initiated a governance vote to establish a "Delayed Upgrade Penalty," which will impose a 1% penalty fee on holders who do not exchange their MKR for SKY within the specified time frame. If the vote passes, the penalty will take effect on September 22, 2025. Holders are encouraged to upgrade as soon as possible to avoid losses. (TheBlock)
I haven't been following so closely.... but $DAI is still around right? So as $MKR is burned for $SKY, wouldn't it make $MKR more valuable? It is still needed for interest on outstanding DAI right?

if you hold mkr, now is the best time to upgrade to sky.
voting starts today to confirm the delayed upgrade penalty. if approved, it goes live september 22: every upgrade delay costs you 1% less sky, increasing every 3 months by 1%. over 630k mkr has already moved, earning ~15% in usds and ~14% in spk.
the longer you wait, the more rewards you lose for nothing. mkr price action is the same as sky because of the conversion, with the difference that sky gives you rewards and governance power.
if you sit on mkr, you receive less sky as the penalty kicks in.
